exhibition guide

Centered on the two-part video, Jokes on Every Wrapper, the installation constructs a scene of fragmented, absurd and distorted domestic ideals. Within the DIY-green-screen-walls of the space, we are presented with materials and configurations that are just barely reminiscent of a home. While many of these objects are culled directly from the strange reality of the video— raw cookie dough, door stops, green spoons—others leave us to imagine their origins and potential to perform. These staged situations ultimately reflect the complex experience of media consumption, and ask us to consider how this bombardment of information influences, dulls and undermines our understanding of ourselves in relation to the material world.
