NEW NEW NEW
is an an exploratory, project-based design initiative by Rachel Ferber and Adam Lucas. We make, remake and curate with a focus on confronting our material impact through various real and speculative solutions.

NEW NEW NEW Showroom was the first iteration of this initiative. The showroom featured prototypes and possibilities for the continued use of materials that have reached their perceived end-of-life—a process commonly referred to as upcycling. In our search for transcendental approaches to material lifespans, we followed a guiding principle: each prototype must remain true to its original form and function as much as possible—offering continued life, rather than new life—in order to highlight its ongoing value. Textile stains were removed and repaired—embracing the negative space as a design element; junk mail was pulped and reformed as coasters—acknowledging that the accumulation on your table may already act as a kind of base for your beverage. This approach ensured that the transformation could be easily replicated without advanced product design skills, while emphasizing renewal and continuation.
